چکیده

In this review paper, we discuss the relation between recent advances in theory of partial differential equations and their applications to quantum field on curved spacetimes. particular, focus hyperbolic propagators role they play construction physically admissible states—the so-called Hadamard states—on globally We will notion a propagator how it can be constructed an explicit invariant fashion, first Riemannian manifold then Lorentzian spacetime. Finally, recall state relate latter via wavefront set, subset cotangent bundle capturing information about singularities distribution.

Quantum Inequalities in Curved Two Dimensional Spacetimes

In quantum field theory there exist states for which the energy density is negative. It is important that these negative energy densities satisfy constraints, such as quantum inequalities, to minimize possible violations of causality, the second law of thermodynamics, and cosmic censorship. In this paper I show that conformally invariant scalar and Dirac fields satisfy quantum inequalities in t...

Quantum Resonances and Partial Differential Equations

Resonances, or scattering poles, are complex numbers which mathematically describe meta-stable states: the real part of a resonance gives the rest energy, and its imaginary part, the rate of decay of a meta-stable state. This description emphasizes the quantum mechanical aspects of this concept but similar models appear in many branches of physics, chemistry and mathematics, from molecular dyna...

Solving quantum field theories via curved spacetimes

© 2009 American Institute of Physics, S-0031-9228-0901-010-2 Eleven years ago several theorists proposed a remarkable correspondence between two seemingly different kinds of theories.1 It is often called a duality because it is an equivalence between two different, “dual” descriptions of the same physics. On one side of the duality are certain quantum field theories (QFTs)—for example, Yang–Mil...

Strings in Curved Spacetimes

Progress on the physics of strings in curved spacetime are comprehensively reviewed. We start by showing through renormalization group arguments that a meaningful quantum theory of gravity must be finite and must include all particle physics. Then, we review classical and quantum string propagation in curved spacetimes. We start by the general expansion method proposed by de Vega and Sánchez in ...
