Parotid pilomatricoma: a case presentation and literature review

Abstract Background Pilomatrixoma is a rare benign tumor of the hair follicle. It more common in children and women. The cervical facial region are most frequent location for this type tumor. Due to its variable clinical presentations, it can sometimes be misdiagnosed as malignant surrounding tissues, described our case. diagnosis confirmation pathological. Case presentation We report case 34-year-old patient, who presented swelling right parotid gradually increasing size two years, with no asymmetry. Clinical examination revealed rounded, well-defined mass, fixed superficial plan, without any lymph nodes. MRI showed that seems evolving from lobe parotid, suggesting pleomorphic adenoma. Total excision margins was performed, preserving tissue nerve. postoperative course normal; pathological study confirmed pilomatrixoma. Conclusion but remains differential large tumors neck parotid. mainly diagnosis, treatment choice still complete surgical excision.
