Parental Factors Affecting the Incidence of Infantile Colic: A Systematic Review

Context: Infantile Colic (IC) is an essential problem in infancy that influenced by factors related to infants and parents. The parental associated with colic have not been comprehensively assessed. Objectives: present systematic review was conducted investigate the affecting incidence of IC. Data Sources: Databases, including PubMed, Web Science, Scopus, Science Direct, Google scholar, as well Scientific Information Database (SID), Magiran (Iranian websites) were searched identify all eligible papers concerning infantile CI. registration number this study CRD42020163518 PROSPERO database. Study Selection: A total 423 relevant articles published up end December 2019 selected screened based on duplicated, eligibility criteria, quality appraisal. main inclusion criteria observational studies Persian English languages. Extraction: Mesh keywords Boolean operators included (“risk factors” OR “causality”) AND (“parents” “fathers” “mothers”) (“infant”) (“colic”). Consequently, 18 thoroughly studied data extracted. Two researchers independently performed extraction assessment STROBE checklist from studies. information recorded a table, i.e. consisted authors’ names, purpose, design, population, results. Results: Final 10 prospective, 6 cross-sectional, 2 case-control Eventually, effective placed categories, follows: psychological factors, physical taking medications, perinatal family’s socioeconomic status, maternal diet. most important characteristics predisposing IC depression, anxiety, smoking, history migraine, young age, primiparity, low family support, high high-risk pregnancies, delivery, antibiotics, consumption celery, onions, bananas. Conclusions: Various affect colic. Identifying these risk accurate planning can be beneficial prevention treatment
