Paraneoplastic arthritis — at the crossroads of rheumatology and oncology

Paraneoplastic arthritides (PA) are a group of inflammatory arthropathies associated with latent or manifest malignancy, localized in distant site relation to the primary focus and caused by immune-mediated mechanisms. Although pathogenesis PA is unknown, mechanisms can cause paraneoplastic syndrome dominant feature polyarthritis. Arthritis be both initial manifestation disease, it itself some time before oncological process. Common forms include oligo/polyarthritis; hypertrophic osteoarthropathy; remitting seronegative symmetric synovitis pitting edema; palmar fasciitis pancreatic panniculitis carcinoma. The purpose this review article was describe clinical characteristics, diagnostic assessment treatment arthritis, highlight challenges that healthcare professionals may face order distinguish these conditions from other autoimmune rheumatic diseases.
