Parameter Sensitivity for Wave-Breaking Closures in Boussinesq-Type Models

چکیده
We consider the issue of wave-breaking closure for well-known Green–Naghdi model and attempt at providing some more understanding sensitivity approaches to numerical set-up. More precisely based on Kazolea Ricchiuto (Ocean Model 123:16–39, 2018), we used two strategies modeling a solitary wave over slope. The first one is hybrid method consisting suppressing dispersive terms in breaking region second an eddy viscosity approach solution turbulent kinetic energy model. closures use same conditions triggering mechanisms. Both models themselves case depended/ad/hoc parameters which are affecting while changing. scope this work make indices computed by means analysis variance provide simulation variation such as mesh size specific each performed using UQlab framework uncertainty quantification (Marelli et al., UQLab user manual—sensitivity analysis, Technical report, Chair Risk, Safety Uncertainty Quantification, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, 2019).

متن کاملBoussinesq Modelling of Solitary Wave Propagation, Breaking, Runup and Overtopping
A one-dimensional hybrid numerical model is presented of a shallow-water flume with an incorporated piston paddle. The hybrid model is based on the improved Boussinesq equations by Madsen and Sørensen (1992) and the nonlinear shallow water equations. It is suitable for breaking and non-breaking waves and requires only two adjustable parameters: a friction coefficient and a wave breaking paramet...
متن کاملCoupling SPH with a 1-D Boussinesq-type wave model
The high computational cost of SPH remains problematic in dealing with wave propagation, especially when the domains considered are large. In order to overcome this difficulty, we propose to couple 2-D SPH with a 1-D Finite Difference Boussinesq-type model. The latter deals with wave propagations for most of the spatial domain, whereas SPH computations focus on the shoreline or close to off-sho...
متن کاملTravelling wave solutions to Zufiria’s higher-order Boussinesq type equations
Zufiria’s higher-order Boussinesq type equations are studied by transforming them into solvable ordinary differential equations. Various families of their travelling wave solutions are generated, which include periodic wave, solitary wave, periodic-like wave, solitonlike wave, Jacobi elliptic function periodic wave, combined non-degenerative Jacobi elliptic function-like wave, Weierstrass ellip...
متن کاملNearshore Wave Modeling with High-Order Boussinesq-Type Equations
The accuracy of using high-order Boussinesq-type models as compared to the typical order models is examined in this paper. The high-order model used is the two-layer model of Lynett and Liu in 2004, which captures both linear and nonlinear wave evolution up to kh 6. The physical situations examined all involve nearshore breaking, and an eddy-viscosity type breaking model is adopted for the two-...
