Parameter Optimization of PET Plastic Preform Bottles in Injection Molding Process Using Grey-Based Taguchi Method

The paper investigated the optimization design of plastic injection molding process parameters for preformed bottle production using grey-Taguchi method to minimize shrinkage defects. Diametrical (radial) and length (axial) were taken as responses one-liter PET preform perform by controlling four parameters. obtained optimum parameter combination was 260°C melting temperature, 70°C 120 MPa holding pressure, 15 s cooling time. Melting temperature most significant factor according ANOVA in production. experimental validation test also performed optimal level settings, five samples preforms taken, result showed that reduced 22.55%. average grey relational grade, 0.853, confirmation results found between confidence intervals 0.581 1.125 95% level. Therefore, a good agreement predicted values.
