چکیده

Abstract Partial ranked set sampling (PRSS) is a cost-effective method. It combination of simple random sample (SRS) and (RSS) designs. The PRSS method allows flexibility for the experimenter in selecting when it either difficult to rank units within each with full confidence or experimental are not available. In this article, we introduce define likelihood function any probability distribution under scheme. performance maximum estimators examined available data assumed have an exponentiated exponential (EE) via some selective RSS schemes as well SRS. suggested include PRSS, RSS, neoteric (NRSS), extreme (ERSS). An intensive simulation study was conducted compare explore behaviour proposed estimators. demonstrated that NRSS, ERSS, more efficient than corresponding A real presented illustrative purposes.

Estimation of Variance of Normal Distribution using Ranked Set Sampling

Introduction     In some biological, environmental or ecological studies, there are situations in which obtaining exact measurements of sample units are much harder than ranking them in a set of small size without referring to their precise values. In these situations, ranked set sampling (RSS), proposed by McIntyre (1952), can be regarded as an alternative to the usual simple random sampling ...

Estimation of a parameter of Morgenstern type bivariate exponential distribution by ranked set sampling

Ranked set sampling is applicable whenever ranking of a set of sampling units can be done easily by a judgement method or based on the measurement of an auxiliary variable on the units selected. In this work, we consider ranked set sampling, in which ranking of units are done based on measurements made on an easily and exactly measurable auxiliary variable X which is correlated with the study v...

Estimation of Parameters in a Two-parameter Exponential Distribution Using Ranked Set Sample

In situations where the experimental or sampling units in a study can be easily ranked than quantified, McIntyre (1952, Aust. J. Agric. Res., 3, 385-390) proposed that the mean of n units based on a ranked set sample (RSS) be used to estimate the population mean, and observed that it provides an unbiased estimator with a smaller variance compared to a simple random sample (SRS) of the same size...

Estimation of Gumbel Parameters under Ranked Set Sampling

Consider the MLEs (maximum likelihood estimators) of the parameters of the Gumbel distribution using SRS (simple random sample) and RSS (ranked set sample) and the MOMEs (method of moment estimators) and REGs (regression estimators) based on SRS. A comparison between these estimators using bias and MSE (mean square error) was performed using simulation. It appears that the MLE based on RSS can ...

Improved Estimation from Ranked Set Sampling

Ranked set sampling is used when the measurement or quantification of units of the variable under study is difficult but the ranking of units of sets of small sizes can be done easily by an inexpensive method. Dell and Clutter (1972) showed that the sample mean based on ranked set sample is more efficient than the sample mean based on simple random sample with replacement sampling procedure for...
