Amplification of nanosecond pulses to megawatt peak power levels in Tm3+-doped photonic crystal fiber rod.
We report amplification of sub-10-100 ns pulses with repetition rates from 1 to 20 kHz in a rod-type thulium-doped photonic crystal fiber with 80 μm core diameter. The rod is pumped with a 793 nm laser diode and produces the highest peak power at 1 kHz repetition rate with 6.5 ns pulse duration and more than 7 W average output power. This result exemplifies the potential of this fiber design to...
متن کاملPeak power estimation of VLSI circuits: new peak power measures
New measures of peak power are proposed in the context of sequential circuits, and an efficient automatic procedure is presented to obtain very good lower bounds on these measures, as well as providing the actual input vectors that attain such bounds. Automatic generation of a functional vector loop for near-worst case power consumption is also attained. Experiments show that vector sequences g...
متن کاملTowards Palm-Size Autonomous Helicopters
muFly EU project started in 2006 with the idea to build an autonomous micro helicopter, comparable in size and weight to a small bird. Several scientific and technological objectives were identified. This spanned from system-level integration, high efficiency micro-actuation, highly integrated micro vision sensors and IMUs and also low processing power navigation algorithms. This paper shows ho...
متن کاملPower-Management Scheduling for Peak Power Minimization
As the design complexity continues to increase, huge peak power has become an important concern. A widely used power management technique is to shut down unused operations. However, an unused operation cannot be shut down, unless all the operations involved in identifying the control/data flow of this operation have been scheduled before this operation. Therefore, operation scheduling has a sig...
