Palatini formulation for gauge theory: implications for slow-roll inflation

چکیده
We consider a formulation of gauge field theory where the $A_\alpha$ and strength $F_{\alpha\beta}$ are independent variables, as in Palatini gravity. For simplest action, this is known to be equivalent usual formulation. add non-minimal couplings between scalar field, solve for insert it back into action. This leads modified terms. slow-roll inflation show that because modifications sector, adding higher order terms inflaton potential does not spoil its flatness, unlike case. Instead they make effective closer quadratic. The also problem Higgs sensitive

Implications of a Running Spectral Index for Slow Roll Inflation
We analyze the weak (2σ) evidence for a running spectral index seen in the three-year WMAP dataset and its implications for single field, slow roll inflation. We assume that the running is comparable to the central value found from the WMAP data analysis, and use the Hubble Slow Roll formalism to follow the evolution of the slow roll parameters. For all parameter choices consistent with a large...
متن کاملGeneralized slow-roll inflation
The slow-roll approximation to inflation is ultimately justified by the presence of inflationary attractors for the orbits of the solutions of the dynamical equations in phase space. There are many indications that the inflaton field couples nonminimally to the spacetime curvature: the existence of attractor points for inflation with nonminimal coupling is demonstrated, subject to a condition o...
متن کاملInflation without slow roll
We draw attention to the possibility that inflation (i.e. accelerated expansion) might continue after the end of slow roll, during a period of fast oscillations of the inflaton field φ. This phenomenon takes place when a mild non-convexity inequality is satisfied by the potential V (φ). The presence of such a period of φ-oscillation-driven inflation can substantially modify reheating scenarios....
متن کاملBrane inflation without slow-roll
The scenario of brane inflation without using the conventional slow-roll approximations has been investigated. Based on the mechanism of generating the curvature perturbations at the end of inflation, a new brane inflation paradigm was developed. The conditions for making a sufficiently large enough number of e-foldings and for generating the curvature perturbations without producing dangerous ...
متن کاملIntermediate inflation and the slow-roll approximation
It is shown that spatially homogeneous solutions of the Einstein equations coupled to a nonlinear scalar field and other matter exhibit accelerated expansion at late times for a wide variety of potentials V . These potentials are strictly positive but tend to zero at infinity. They satisfy restrictions on V ′/V and V ′′/V ′ related to the slow-roll approximation. These results generalize Wald’s...
