چکیده
Painful Legs and Moving Toes syndrome (PLMT) is a rare neurological movement disorder characterized by involuntary irregular movements of one or more toes, often together, with moderate to severe diffuse pain at the foot leg. It can appear on both sides in upper limbs as well lower limbs. The etiology PLMT still unclear; therefore, main symptoms PLMT, including be treated only symptomatically, outcomes are unsatisfactory. Central peripheral nerve injuries have been assumed possible causes movements, accompanied chronic pain; however, its unknown most cases. management very difficult because prevalence obscure pathogenesis, there no clear guidelines for treatment PLMT. Oral medications (e.g., GABAergic agents, benzodiazepines, antiepileptics, antidepressants, atypical antipsychotics, beta-blockers, corticosteroids, cannabis, calcitonin, analgesics) several therapeutic interventions local botulinum neurotoxin-A injection, spinal cord stimulation, anesthetic, surgical interventions) recommended, based individual experiences from Its etiology, effective treatments should further discussed.

"Painful legs and moving toes" associated with polyneuropathy.
Three patients showing clinical and electrophysiological evidence of peripheral neuropathy also suffered from the syndrome of "painful legs and moving toes". Polygraphic recordings during wakefulness and sleep were consistent with the hypothesis that pathological afferent discharges arising peripherally may induce, via the spinal cord, motor excitation and pain. A severe disruption of the patte...

A new syndrome was recently reported with the descriptive title of "painful legs and moving toes". The present paper describes five patients who developed this syndrome following minor trauma to the legs, which in three patients was attributable to surgery. Various mechanisms that may underlie this unusual combination of severe leg pain with involuntary movements of the toes are discussed, as i...

Of the reported cases, a majority of the patients was female, and the mean age of onset was 58 years. Only one pediatric case has been reported so far. Herein, we report the first adolescent case of PLMT in Korea. A 16-year-old girl complained of tingli...
متن کاملPainful legs and moving toes: evidence on the site of the lesion.
A condition of painful legs with moving toes was described in 1971. Further examples of this condition are now reported, showing lesions in the posterior root ganglion, cauda equina, nerve roots, or a peripheral nerve of the lower limb. It is concluded that this syndrome is caused by a lesion of the afferent fibres of the posterior nerve roots. It is likely that this lesion causes frequent spon...
