چکیده
Abstract Background A reduction in the absolute or relative mass of lean tissue muscle context disease and/or malnutrition are well-described features associated with poor prognosis. Conversely, excessive adiposity may lead to metabolic disease, increased inflammation and has been linked adverse CD outcomes. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) allows estimation fat-mass index (FMi kg/m2) fat-free (FFMi which can be expressed standardised as Z scores using device-specific age gender reference ranges. Here we report body composition relationship between BMI, elevated FMi reduced FFMi patient reported outcome measures an adult cohort clinical remission. Methods 194 outpatients biochemical remission were recruited from a single tertiary IBD service (Harvey Bradshaw Index <5 calprotectin <250µg) part INTICO2 observational study. 55 had undergone previous intestinal resection, 81 on biological therapy, 67 immunomodulator 33 both. Subjects needed continuity not currently receiving either exclusive partial EN IV nutrition. Body was assessed BIA (seca mBCA 515) scores. Health disease-related quality life Short Form 36 (SF36) fatigue-specific PROM FACIT-F. Results The Median BMI 26.1 (18.0-48.9) Kg/m2. One subject underweight (≤18.5) by 37% patients (71/194) overweight (BMI ≥25), 47 (24% cohort) obese (BMI≥30). 16/97 men 11/97 women below 5th centile (SDS score <-2) for sex matched values FFMi, respectively. Of 27 individuals mass, 20 normal (20-25), 2 (25-30). 14/97 21/97 above 95th FMI Z-scores >2), all over 30. Excessive fatigue present among population affecting 25% (49/194). FMiz correlated (r- 0.236 p<0.05), but there no FFMiZ sex. Conclusion While weight loss is recognised presentation CD, this characterisation large outpatient found commonest BMI-defined malnutritional states obese. In predominantly sarcopenia common, masked have appreciated without assessment composition. estimates fatigue, common population.

متن کاملBody composition and health-related quality of life in patients with obstructive airways disease.
This study evaluated the effects of body weight and lean mass abnormalities on health-related quality of life (HRQL) in obstructive airways disease. Body weight, lean mass (using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), and HRQL (using the St George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ)) were measured in 50 patients. Low lean mass was defined as a lean mass index (lean mass/height2) below the fifth perc...
