چکیده
Abstract Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by chronic intestinal inflammation. Histological remission has become an efficacy outcome in clinical trials and might have the potential to modify course of UC. Quantitative phase imaging including digital holographic microscopy (DHM) can be used for objective automated evaluation tissue morphology density. Our study aimed evaluate DHM quantifying histological inflammation UC patients. Methods In a monocentric prospective study, patients undergoing colonoscopy were included. Disease activity was measured total Mayo Score. determine refractive index (RI) mucosal biopsy samples obtained during colonoscopy. RI values correlated with disease as assessed Nancy [NHI]. Results total, from 21 included analysis. On average, had moderate reflected partial score 3.1 (SEM ± 0.6), endoscopic subscore 1 0.2) 4.1 0.8). The mean NHI 1.3 1.349 0.0003). determined strongly (p<0,001 R2=0.282). Similarly, marked correlation found using alternative histopathological indices (Geboes score, Riley index, Robarts index; all p<0.001). Conclusion data demonstrate that appropriate assess it may or supplemental tool conventional assessment.

Background. In this retrospective study, we compared the efficacy of tacrolimus (TAC) or prednisolone (PSL) for maintenance therapy in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) at remission. Methods. The study patients were followed up for at least one year after induction of remission with either PSL (n = 55, between April 2004 and March 2014) or TAC (n = 40, between April 2009 and March 2014). Th...

Background and Aim: Ulcerative Colitis is an idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease that is common in adults. Although corticosteroids are the most effective preservative treatment for Ulcerative Colitis. However, due to the dependence of these drugs and their serious complications, the use of an immunosuppressive drug or surgery should be taken seriously. Thus the aim of the study was the evalu...
متن کاملSerum Interleukin-23 Levels in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis
Background: Patients with ulcerative colitis are at increased risk of inflammation. Interleukin 23 (IL-23) is a newly identified cytokine with increased expression in inflamed biopsies of colon mucosa in patients with Crohn's disease; however, there is inconsistent evidence on its role in ulcerative colitis. Objective: We aimed to compare serum IL-23 level in patients with ulcerative colitis an...

The aim of this study is to assess cost-effectiveness of infliximab, compared with conventional treatments in patients with moderate to severe Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in Iran. We developed an analytical decision model with a 5-year-time horizon to follow up 1000 hypothetical patients, in order to estimate treatment costs and outcomes. Hypothetical patients, were individuals with moderate to sev...
