P.050 Effect of lemborexant on sleep architecture in adult and elderly subjects with mild to severe obstructive sleep apnea

چکیده

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may be associated with difficulties and decreased rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Lemborexant (LEM), a dual-orexin-receptor-antagonist approved to treat adults insomnia, increases total time (TST) REM sleep, demonstrated respiratory safety in subjects mild through severe OSA. Sleep architecture was thus analyzed after LEM treatment those subjects. Methods: Studies E2006-A001-102 E2006-A001-113 enrolled (apnea-hypopnea index [AHI] ≥5 – <15) or moderate (AHI ≥15 <30)/severe ≥30) OSA without insomnia. Subjects received 10mg (LEM10) placebo (PBO) 2 periods, Days 1 (D1) 8 (D8), separated by ≥14 days. Least-squares-mean (minutes) for each stage compared. Treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) were recorded. Results: Thirty-nine 33 moderate/severe randomized. On both days, TST significantly higher the period these Total non-REM on D1 days than PBO; also increased Most TEAEs mild. Conclusions: In TST, non-REM, versus PBO.

Sleep Architecture in Patients With Primary Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate sleep architecture in patients with primary snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Methods: In this study, we analyzed polysomnographic data of 391 clients who referred to Sleep Disorders Research Center (SDRS). These people were classified into three groups based on their Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) and snoring; control, Primary Snoring (PS), and Obs...

A survey on the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and difficult intubation in the elderly

Background and Objectives: Difficult intubation is one of the challenges for patients undergoing anesthesia that leads to severe complications and death. Obstructive sleep apnea is one of the factors that may be associated with difficult intubation. The present study was carried out to investigate the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and difficult intubation in the elderly. Mater...

Effects of Biofeedback Therapy on Cardiovascular and Respiratory Indices in NREM Sleep Parasomnias with Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Case study

Introduction: Non-REM parasomnias are a relatively common condition in the general human population. Current treatment plans are usually based on small case series and reports. Considering the effects of sleep disorders on different aspects of human life and the failure of pharmacological treatments in this field, the present study was designed to investigate a case of this sleep disorders with...

Does obstructive sleep apnea confound sleep architecture findings in subjects with depressive symptoms?

BACKGROUND Compared with normal subjects, depressed patients have shorter rapid eye movement sleep latency (REML), increased REM and decreased slow wave sleep as a percentage of total sleep time (REM%, SWS%), and longer sleep latency (SL). Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients experience longer REML, decreased REM% and SWS%, and shorter SL. We examined the interplay of depressive symptoms, OSA...

Obstructive sleep apnea in overweight subjects.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Overweight Subjects To the Editor: In the excellent study by Thomas et al,1 a significant increased cardiovascular mortality rate was reported in obese individuals when that condition was associated with the presence of hypertension with or without other cardiovascular risk factors, such as hyperlipidemia or diabetes mellitus. As a result, the authors conclude that ov...
