چکیده
Abstract Study question Is the severity of menstrual dysfunction related to cardiometabolic risk markers in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)? Summary answer PCOS amenorrhea, compared those oligomenorrhea or eumenorrhea, show a higher prevalence insulin resistance (IR), prediabetes and hypertriglyceridemia. What is known already associated robustly wide range unfavorable markers, including obesity, glucolipid metabolism disorders metabolic syndrome. Many epidemiological studies have found regular cycles, history irregular menstruation increased risks coronary heart disease. Recently, association between cyclicity hyperinsulinemia IR has been demonstrated, suggesting could be simple but clinically important marker risk. But evidence linking very limited. design, size, duration In this prospective cross-sectional study, one hundred fifty-four diagnosed by Rotterdam criteria were recruited from July 2021 September 2022. The cycle regularity hypertension, glycemic abnormalities, dyslipidemia was systematically analyzed. Participants/materials, setting, methods university-affiliated hospital, participants eumenorrheic (Eumeno, n = 24), (Oligo, 73) amenorrhea (Ameno, 57) underwent physical examination, gonadal steroid hormone measurement, lipid profile, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) homeostasis model assessment IR. Main results role chance Adjusting for age, BMI waist circumference, trend toward an increase IR, prediabetes, hypertriglyceridemia observed Ameno group than other categories. A significantly demonstrated Eumeno Oligo group. logistic regression, adjusting BMI, more likely have: (odds ratio [OR]: 2.90; 95% CI: 1.01 8.31); (OR: 4.06; 1.05 15.77) 4.43; 1.74 11.26). Moreover, still that when further adjusted free androgen index regression. proportion Type 2 Diabetes, high total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol low high-density (HDL) similar across three groups. Limitations, reasons caution Our study limited its nature, another limitation relied on participant’s interpretation irregular, although we acquired detailed reviewed at consultation, yet some exposure misclassification might also present. Wider implications findings used as readily obtainable identification greatest hypertriglyceridemia, which would emphasize importance help refine current recommendations concerning screening subjects diesases. P-191: Association of STK11 Gene Polymorphisms with Methformin Treatment in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Background: Metformin is an insulin sensitizing drug, which is co-administered with Clominophene citrate or gonadotropins in most cases of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), to improve ovulation. STK11 gene is necessary for action of metformin. Therefore the study of STK11 polymorphisms is important as pharmacogenetics aspects of metformin. The aim of our study was to investigate polymorphism of...
