Oxovanadium(IV) template derived from benzophenone S-allyl thiosemicarbazone: Synthesis, crystal structure, antioxidant activity and electrochemistry

The oxovanadium(IV) template was formed with the reaction between vanadyl sulfate pentahydrate, 2-hydroxybenzophenone-S-allylthiosemicarbazone, and 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde. synthesized complex, along starting ligand, subjected to UV-Vis, FTIR, mass, magnetic measurement. square pyramidal structure proven single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. Stronger crystals were π-π interactions, which also supported by corresponding peak in mass spectrum. Conventional three-electrode electrochemistry performed cyclic voltammetry revealed that complex 2 underwent one-electron reduction (VIVO –VIIIO) oxidation –VVO) at vanadium center. total antioxidant capacity of compound ligand CUPRAC method, yielding more potent than control compound, ascorbic acid.
