Oxidative stress in pancreatic alpha and beta cells as a selection criterion for biocompatible biomaterials

چکیده

The clinical success rate of islet transplantation, namely independence from insulin injections, is limited by factors that lead to graft failure, including inflammation, acute ischemia, phase response, and insufficient vascularization. ischemia vascularization both high levels oxidative stress, which are further aggravated encapsulation, undesirable cell-biomaterial interactions. To identify biomaterials would not increase damaging stress also suitable for manufacturing a beta cell encapsulation device, we studied five clinically approved polymers their effect on (alpha cell) function. We found 300 poly(ethylene oxide terephthalate) 55/poly(butylene 45 (PEOT/PBT300) was more resistant breakage elastic than other biomaterials, important its immunoprotective In addition, it did induce or reduce viability in the MIN6 line, even promoted protective endogenous antioxidant expression over 7 days. Importantly, PEOT/PBT300 one interfere with secretion human islets.

Oxidative Stress in Pancreatic Beta Cell Regeneration

Pancreatic β cell neogenesis and proliferation during the neonatal period are critical for the generation of sufficient pancreatic β cell mass/reserve and have a profound impact on long-term protection against type 2 diabetes (T2D). Oxidative stress plays an important role in β cell neogenesis, proliferation, and survival under both physiological and pathophysiological conditions. Pancreatic β ...

Cocoa Phenolic Extract Protects Pancreatic Beta Cells against Oxidative Stress

Diabetes mellitus is associated with reductions in glutathione, supporting the critical role of oxidative stress in its pathogenesis. Antioxidant food components such as flavonoids have a protective role against oxidative stress-induced degenerative and age-related diseases. Flavonoids constitute an important part of the human diet; they can be found in most plant foods, including green tea, gr...

MicroRNAs as stress regulators in pancreatic beta cells and diabetes

BACKGROUND MicroRNAs have emerged as important regulatory non-coding RNAs that tune cellular responses to physiological perturbations and disease conditions. An increasing body of literature underlines the important roles of miRNA function in pancreatic β-cells in response to metabolic, genetic and inflammatory stress. Lessons from genetic loss- and gain-of-function studies have implicated seve...

Chronic oxidative stress as a central mechanism for glucose toxicity in pancreatic islet beta cells in diabetes.

Glucose in chronic excess causes toxic effects on structure and function of organs, including the pancreatic islet. Multiple biochemical pathways and mechanisms of action for glucose toxicity have been suggested. These include glucose autoxidation, protein kinase C activation, methylglyoxal formation and glycation, hexosamine metabolism, sorbitol formation, and oxidative phosphorylation. There ...

passivity in waiting for godot and endgame: a psychoanalytic reading

this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...
