Ovid’s Metamorphoses in Russian book illustrations of the 1790s: Searching European analogues

چکیده
The paper shows the influence of European engravings on Russian book illustrations. object study are and 18th-century illustrations for Ovid’s Metamorphoses. As a result comparison, prototypes edition Ovid 1794–1795 were identified as from similar Dutch 1732. results comparison number sketches manuscript “Ovid Metamorphoses with Illustrations” 1796 French “Metamorphoses” 1767–1771 given. methods copying transformation prints analyzed. author proves creative nature interpretation samples by engravers draftsmen academic school.
