چکیده

Abstract Introduction Pericardial effusion (PE) in patients with infective endocarditis (IE) has been shown to be an independent risk factor for severe complications, however no significant association mortality established. Our study aims the significance of pericardial IE. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis using United States National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database identify all hospital admissions IE ICD 10 codes and divided them into two groups based on presence PE. The outcomes interest were in-hospital mortality, need cardiac surgery, length stay (LOS). Results A total 381,300 hospitalized from 2016 2019 IE, whom 10,370 developed Mean age PE group was 51 years non-PE 61 males Caucasian race being predominant both groups. had higher rates death (12.7% vs 9%, P≤0.001) longer (12 days 7 days, compared group. surgery (26.1% 8.4%, P≤0.001). heart failure, block, renal cardiogenic shock, embolic stroke [Table 1]. Conclusion shows that is predictor stay, surgery. Also, these are at shock stroke. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Patients with native valve IE were prospectively followed in our center from 1990 to 2007. A logistic regression analysis was performed to identify independent variables associated with PE and mortality. We included 479 episodes of IE from 459 patients (...
