چکیده
Background & AimsAscites has been classified according to quantity and response medical therapy. Despite its precise definitions, little is known about the effects of grade 1 ascites or recurrent (i.e. that recurs at least on 3 occasions within a 12-month period despite dietary sodium restriction adequate diuretic dosage) patient outcome. We studied progression in large cohort outpatients with cirrhosis.MethodsWe performed post-hoc analysis data from 547 cirrhosis (259 without ascites, 54 patients 234 2 ascites) who participated care management program study Italy March 2003 through September 2017. collected demographic, clinical, laboratory were evaluated every 6 months. Patients received abdominal ultrasound inclusion twice year. Number volume paracentesis collected, when available. followed until death, liver transplantation, 2018. Ascites, refractory ascites and hyponatremia in cirrhosis
Ascites is the most common complication related to cirrhosis and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Ascites is a consequence of the loss of compensatory mechanisms to maintain the overall effective arterial blood volume due to worsening splanchnic arterial vasodilation as a result of clinically significant portal hypertension. In order to maintain effective arterial blood vol...
متن کاملEffects of Enalapril on growth Performance, Ascites Mortality, Antioxidant Status and Blood Parameters in Broiler Chickens under Cold-Induced Ascites
Six hundred 1-d-old male broilers (Ross 308) were assigned to four experimental groups; each was composed of 5 floor pen replications of 30 birds including control (no enalapril), 15, 30 and 60 ppm enalapril in the drinking water. From d 21 to 49, all the chicks were exposed to low ambient temperature to induce ascites. Mortalities were inspected to determine the cause of death and diagnose of ...
متن کاملPeritoneal dialysis in patients with cirrhosis and ascites.
The cirrhotic patient with ascites presents unique challenges to the renal caregiver. This patient population has relative contraindications both to hemodialysis (HD) and to peritoneal dialysis (PD). Challenging hemodynamics and the bleeding risk from acquired coagulopathy make HD problematic. In PD, tense ascites can increase the risk of early catheter leak and complicate the initial instillat...
متن کاملSpironolactone diuresis in patients with cirrhosis and ascites.
Increased aldosterone levels with consequent or diuretic-potentiated electrolyte abnormalities are an important consideration when patients with cirrhosis and ascites undergo diuresis. A simple clinical method using the urinary Na/K ratio as a guide to spironolactone dosage is outlined. Patients with a ratio greater than 1 responded well to 100 mg. of spironolactone a day; those when it was one...
متن کاملComparison of intermittent drainage of ascites and diuretic therapy for cirrhosis patients with tense ascites
Objective: Ascites is one of the most frequent complications of cirrhosis. Our study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of the intermittent drainage of ascites for HBV-related cirrhosis patients with tense ascites. Material and methods: A total of 2,169 HBV-related, decompensated liver cirrhosis inpatients were screened from January 2009–January 2014. Of them, 112 cases were eligible, am...
