Imaging of ulnar-sided wrist pain.
Pain on the ulnar side of the wrist is a complex diagnostic dilemma. This is mainly due to the small size and complexity of the anatomical structures. The issue is compounded by the occurrence of positive imaging findings that are clinically asymptomatic. This pictorial essay deals with the imaging manifestations of different causes of ulnar-sided wrist pain.
متن کاملUlnar-sided wrist pain: diagnosis and treatment.
Ulnar-sided wrist pain has often been equated with low back pain because of its insidious onset, vague and chronic nature, intermittent symptoms, and frustration that it induces in patients. Chronic ulnar-sided wrist pain may be accompanied by a history of workers' compensation claims and unrelenting and irresolvable pain, and it may occur in patients with dfficult personalities. Despite these ...
متن کاملHigh Resolution MRI of Brainstem at 8 Tesla
Introduction The brainstem represents a small but vital part of the brain. It is a railway station of dominant cerebral pathways; it integrates structures controlling consciousness, respiration, cardiovascular and visceral functions and it is necessary for survival. Even small lesions in this area could be lifethreatening. Thus, it is highly desirable to have ability to image brainstem at high ...
متن کاملHigh resolution wall and lumen MRI of the middle cerebral arteries at 3 tesla.
BACKGROUND Although black-blood MRI (BB-MRI) can identify plaques in the cervical carotid arteries, this modality has not been applied in intracranial arteries. We imaged the lumina and walls of stenotic middle cerebral arteries (MCAs) in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients using high-resolution BB-MRI, in order to characterize vulnerable plaques and to determine the diagnostic accuracy of BB...
متن کاملHigh resolution MRI of the brain at 4.7 Tesla using fast spin echo imaging.
Over recent years, high field MR scanners (3 T and above) have become increasingly widespread due to potential advantages such as higher signal-to-noise ratio. However, few examples of high resolution images covering the whole brain in reasonable acquisition times have been published to date and none have used fast spin echo (FSE), a sequence commonly employed for the acquisition of T(2) weight...
