چکیده
A new method is presented for the analysis of limit cycle oscillations in mixed-feedback systems. The calculation reformulated as zero finding a mixed-monotone relation, that is, difference two maximally monotone relations. problem can then be solved efficiently by borrowing existing algorithms minimize convex functions. potential illustrated on classical Van der Pol oscillator.

Oscillations in Monotone Systems with a Negative Feedback
We study a finite-dimensional monotone system coupled to a slowly evolving scalar differential equation which provides a negative feedback to the monotone system. We use a theory of multivalued characteristics to show that this system admits a relaxation periodic orbit if a simple model system in R does. Our construction can be used to prove the existence of periodic orbits in slow-fast systems...
متن کاملOscillations in multi-stable monotone systems with slowly varying feedback.
The study of dynamics of gene regulatory networks is of increasing interest in systems biology. A useful approach to the study of these complex systems is to view them as decomposed into feedback loops around open loop monotone systems. Key features of the dynamics of the original system are then deduced from the input-output characteristics of the open loop system and the sign of the feedback....
متن کاملFeedback mechanisms for global oscillations in Lure systems
The paper presents two mechanisms for global oscillations in feedback systems, based on bifurcations in absolutely stable systems. The external characterization of the oscillators provides the basis for a (energy-based) dissipativity theory for oscillators, thereby opening new possibilities for rigorous stability analysis of high-dimensional systems and interconnected oscillators. © 2004 Elsevi...
متن کاملDelayed-feedback control of oscillations in non-linear planar systems
The use of delayed feedback of position for the control of oscillatory behaviour is analysed. It is shown that linear feedback can annihilate limit cycles and stabilize the origin. Furthermore, it is possible to create an asymptotically stable limit cycle with any prescribed amplitude using a simple nonlinear feedback. For almost all values of the delay, these feats can be achieved without usin...
متن کاملComplex Oscillations in the Human Pupil Light Reflex with “Mixed” and Delayed Feedback*
Simple periodic as well as more complex behaviors are shown to occur in the human pupil light reflex with piecewise constant mixed and delayed feedback. The output of an infrared video pupillometer, an analog voltage proportional to pupil area, is processed by an electronic comparator which synthesizes the piecewise constant feedback. The system is described by a nonlinear delay differential eq...
