Orthodontic Diagnosis, Treatment and Consultation Approaches of General Dental Practitioners: A Cross-Sectional Study

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the perceptions and behaviours general dental practitioners towards orthodontic diagnosis treatment, determine when dentists refer patients orthodontists. Material Methods: data in research consists 22 survey questions created using Google Forms program. questionnaire was sent members registered Turkish Dental Association via e-mail. 326 participated on a voluntary basis. including demographic information participants, criteria for performing examination, diagnostic recording, rates distribution referral an orthodontist, expectations after treatment. Number Cruncher Statistical System 2007 (Kaysville, Utah, USA) program used statistical analysis. Significance evaluated at p<0.01 p<0.05 levels. Results: Of (176 men, 150 women), it found that 21.8% did not perform examination first 75.7% receive registration 51% worked with 32.7% performed treatment applied clear aligner most (77.3%), 95.06% referred orthodontist Referral often skeletal anomalies anterior open bite or crossbite. Fixed removable appliances procedures are frequently patients. Conclusion: Half examined our orthodontists, but them use methods, common orthodontist; concluded some preferred most.
