چکیده
Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD) and sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) may present as comorbidities. characteristics might serve a clinical marker of SDB, allowing early identification management OMD improving treatment outcomes for sleep disorders. The study aims to characterize in children with SDB symptoms investigate possible relationships between the presence various components SDB. A cross-sectional healthy aged 6–8 from primary schools was conducted central Vietnam 2019. were collected using parental Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire, Snoring Severity Scale, Epworth Daytime Sleepiness lip-taping nasal assessment. evaluation included assessment tongue mobility, well lip strength Iowa Oral Performance Instrument, orofacial by protocol Myofunctional Evaluation Scores. Statistical analysis used relationship symptoms. 487 evaluated, whom 46.2% female. There 7.6% at high risk Children habitual snoring (10.3%) had an increased incidence restricted mobility decreased strength. Abnormal patterns (22.4%) demonstrated lower posterior muscle sleepiness associated changes strength, facial appearance, impaired function. Lower strengths or improper more likely be reported apnea (6.6%). Neurobehavioral inattention hyperactivity linked anomalous appearance/posture, increases oral This demonstrates prevalence anomalies exhibiting prominent should considered candidates further

Associations between sleep-disordered breathing symptoms and facial and dental morphometry, assessed with screening examinations.
INTRODUCTION Chronic snoring is considered abnormal in a pediatric population. This disorder is often attributed to enlarged tonsils and adenoids, but multiple anatomic obstructions should also be considered. Facial and dental morphometry associations with various sleep-disordered breathing symptoms were investigated at an orthodontic clinic. METHODS Parents or guardians were asked to complet...

The first series of children with obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome was reported in 1976. Later it became apparent that children may have breathing disorders during sleep without frank apnoea or 'hypopnoeas'. This pattern could be detected by measuring the oesophageal pressure. This led to the concept of sleep-disordered breathing as a spectrum that combines obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome an...

Children with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) can manifest a continuum from simple snoring and upper airway resistance syndrome to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with secondary growth impairment, neurocognitive deficits, and less often cardiovascular sequelae. Most children who present with SDB are four to eight years old with variable clinical symptoms at different ages. In general, infants of...

In acute stroke, OSA has been found to impair rehabilitation and increase mortality but the effect of central apnea is more unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the feasibility of using limited ambulatory recording system (sleep mattress to evaluate nocturnal breathing and EOG-electrodes for sleep staging) in sleep disordered breathing (SDB) diagnostics in mild acute cerebral i...

background and aim: some risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea (osa) such as upper respiratory airways abnormalities and obesity overlap with the risk factors for eustachian tube dysfunction (etd). in this study, we investigated the prevalence of etd in a population of patients with osa. methods: tubal dysfunction was determined by tympanometry and inflation-deflation test in 36 patients dia...
