Purpose This paper presents a viewpoint that considers the construction of ‘expertise’ as an impediment to successfully using cross-functional expertise in organization. The forms bounded perspective creates hidden impediments success culminate organizational under achievement. Design/methodology/approach Experiential knowledge authors incorporated 20 years management experience and extensive practice hiring experts progress learning, knowledge, development is primary basis this work. Findings A common misperception relates limiting on what is? Organizations segregate (silo) way increasing functionality division labor structure.
