چکیده

In this study, the features of fly ashes originating from industrial-scale high volatile bituminous coal combustion and co-combustion with 10% admixture alternative fuel SRF (solid recovered fuel) are presented, emphasis on organic petrographical characteristics. The mineralogical data co-evaluated geochemical data, aim to provide a full classification studied ashes, as well base information toward any potential application waste material, according recycling economy principles. By applying methods, assignment carbon-rich residuals respective feed fuel, either or SRF, can be achieved. obtained quantitative evaluation provides useful regarding conditions in stoker boiler. analyzed contain significant C-residuals, mostly form fused, dense, anisotropic particles, while enrichment sooty particles is caused due addition fuel. conjunction moderate-low content hazardous elements, contained C-residual phases suggest that these could possibly subject further studies for their applicability soil improvements.

On the Radioactivity of Fly Ashes from Coal Power Plants

The radioactivity of Greek lignites and their ashes was studied. It was found that the radionuclides in them belong to the uranium series. Fly ashes are relatively rich in radioactivity. Concentrations up to 7 , 1 0 _ 5 g / g and 12 pCi/g were measured for 238U and 226Ra, respectively. The associated hazards from radioactivity escaping from stacks of thermopower plants or when fly ashes are use...

Trace Element Chemistry of Fly Ashes from Co-combusted Petroleum Coke and Coal

Because of economics, petroleum coke sometimes replaces or supplements coal as a fuel in power plant combustors. Fly ashes were recovered from the combustion of petroleum coke with moderateto high-sulfur Illinois Basin bituminous coal in a western Kentucky power plant. The fly ashes primarily consist of glass, quartz, mullite and spinels. When compared with ordinary fly ashes from Illinois Basi...

Environmental and health aspects of coal and biomass co-combustion ashes

Co-combustion is an important aspect of power generation from coal in the Netherlands and becomes increasingly important in the rest of Europe as well. To study these aspects several ashes have been sampled for many years under different firing conditions in test series, mostly at power plants. These ashes were analyzed and its properties assessed. Occupational health aspects discussed in this ...

Mercury from Coal Combustion

A 1997 study in Minnesota indicated a relationship between mercury deposition trends and regional coal combustion (as well as other possible sources) spanning a period of two centuries (Engstrom and Swain 1997). Sediment core sampling from rural lakes in eastern Minnesota indicated a growth in mercury deposited from the air since the first half of the 1800s, with the amount peaking in the 1960s...
