The Mesoproterozoic Xiamaling Formation (∼1.4 Ga) is considered to be a set of promising strata for shale oil and gas exploration production in the Yanliao Basin, North China Craton. This study aimed investigate organic matter accumulation mechanism, hydrocarbon generation expulsion characteristics Formation, using various methods, including scanning electron microscopy, rock-eval pyrolysis, elemental geochemistry. Multiple geochemical proxies indicate that Unit 3—Unit 1 was deposited climate alternated between highly humid semiarid conditions, with strong-to-weak terrigenous influx. redox conditions bottom water were undulatory oxic 3 upper part 1, but anoxic 2 lower 1. Sulfurization main reason high TOC content 3. However, caused by an oxygen-deficient column. exhibit significant potential owing low maturity, hydrogen index (HI) values, prevalence type Ⅰ, II , kerogens.
