چکیده
Abstract Introduction Nitrogen is a key nutrient for plants. Often less than 50% of the applied nitrogen fertilisers acquired by crops and can be easily lost into environment causing environmental pollution. Thus, to make agriculture more sustainable, it important investigate which factors determine use efficiency (NUE). We investigated whether NUE was higher in organically managed soils compared conventionally soils. Materials Methods To test this, we carried out pot experiment greenhouse using from 16 fields. The were collected (eight fields) or fields fields). In addition, plants received two different 15 N enriched sources (mineral an organic fertiliser source, namely plant litter). Plants harvested at three time points, growth uptake assessed each point. Results depended on management type harvest became evident towards second third harvest. average end 93% 55% mineral litter application, respectively. This indicated that immediately plants, while nutrients amendments had lower availability probably would supplied later but steadier. Further, positively linked microbial biomass, soil carbon content, aggregate size, indicating enhanced quality health leads efficient fertilisers. Conclusion Our results indicate promote contribute sustainable agriculture.

Maize productivity and nutrient use efficiency in Western Kenya as affected by soil type and crop management
Low soil fertility and high weed infestation are the main culprits for the declining maize production inWestern Kenya. Technology packages to address these constraints exist, but their effectiveness is likely to be influenced by variability in soil types and farm management practices in the region. Trials were conducted during the 2008/2009 cropping seasons to investigate the nutrient use e...
متن کاملSlurry injection to optimize nutrient use efficiency in maize: Soil nitrogen dynamics and plant nutrient status
Slurry injection below maize seeds is a rather new application technique developed to improve the nitrogen use efficiency of liquid organic manure. To enable the characterization of the spatial and temporal soil mineral nitrogen (SMN) dynamics after slurry injection the present study aims to develop an appropriate soil sampling strategy. Three consecutive experiments were conducted. The first t...
متن کاملThe Effect of Land use and Soil Erosion on Soil Organic Carbon and Nitrogen Stock
Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a principal component in soil quality assessment. Knowledge of SOC and total nitrogen (TN) stocks are important keys to understand the role of SOC in the global carbon cycle and, as a result, in the mitigation of global greenhouse effects. SOC and TN stocks are functions of the SOC concentration and the bulk density of the soil that are prone to changes, influe...
متن کاملEnhanced plant nutrient use efficiency with PGPR and AMF in an integrated nutrient management system.
A 3 year field study was conducted with field corn from 2005 to 2007 to test the hypothesis that microbial inoculants that increase plant growth and yield can enhance nutrient uptake, and thereby remove more nutrients, especially N, P, and K from the field as part of an integrated nutrient management system. The field trial evaluated microbial inoculants, which include a commercially available ...
متن کاملNutrient Use Efficiency in Plants
Invariably, many agricultural soils of the world are deficient in one or more of the essential nutrients needed to support healthy plants. Acidity, alkalinity, salinity, anthropogenic processes, nature of farming, and erosion can lead to soil degradation. Additions of fertilizers and/or amendments are essential for a proper nutrient supply and maximum yields. Estimates of overall efficiency of ...
