Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes as an Innovative Approach for Treating Cutaneous Leishmaniasis

چکیده

Abstract Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (APDT) has been studied as a noninvasive for treating cutaneous leishmaniasis to overcome challenges with current treatment, such toxicity, resistance, and need in‐patient hospital treatment. Organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) have emerged an attractive technology that can provide wearable materials are conformable human skin. This makes OLEDs ideal candidates APDT by light‐bandages ambulatory care. In this work, suitable successfully developed match the absorbance of three photosensitizers: methylene blue, new 1,9‐dimethyl‐methylene blue inactivate two Leishmania species in vitro: major amazonensis . Parasites treated either LED (20 mW cm −2 ) or OLED (6.5 at increasing photosensitizer concentrations radiant exposure 50 J 1,9‐Dimethyl‐methylene is most potent photosensitizer, killing both strains nanomolar concentrations. The effect different intensities from (0.7, 1.5, 6.5 also explored it shown effective occurs even very low intensity. These findings demonstrate great potential approach treatment APDT.

Highly Directional Emission and Beam Steering from Organic LightEmitting Diodes with a Substrate Diffractive Optical Element

In planar OLED structures, a signifi cant fraction of the internal light emission is trapped in guided modes. This trapped light is a major limitation on the external quantum effi ciency, and a number of studies have integrated photonic microstructures into OLEDs to improve the device effi ciency by extracting trapped light such as the substrate modes, [ 3 ] the waveguide modes [ 4 ] and the su...

Cutaneous leishmaniasis: an increasing threat for travellers.

Analysis of the literature on cutaneous leishmaniasis in low-prevalence countries suggests an increase in imported cases that is attributable to the growing phenomenon of international tourism, migration and military operations in highly endemic regions. Cases of imported cutaneous leishmaniasis are often missed initially, but diagnosis can be made non-invasively by PCR using skin scrapings of ...

A Rare Case of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Presenting as Rhinophyma

Cutaneous leishmaniasis(CL) is referred to a group of diseases because of the varied clinical presentation, ranging from small cutaneous nodule to wide spread mucosal destruction. The nose is rarely involved by CL in even in endemic region. In this report we describe a rare rhinophymatous presentation of CL from a non-endemic region which was diagnosed by fine needle sampling and treated with M...

Rare variants of cutaneous leishmaniasis presenting as eczematous lesions

Cutaneous Leishmaniasis may present with clinical presentation such as zosteriform, sporotrichoid and erysipeloid. The eczema variant has rarely been reported. We report a 27- year- old patient with atypical cutaneous leishmaniasis resembling eczema on the hand of a man in Yazd province in the central of Iran.

[Cutaneous leishmaniasis].

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is endemic in certain tropical and sub-tropical regions, and is sometimes encountered as an imported disease in Norway. The disease is characterized by chronic and painless, but often disfiguring, ulcers that regress after some months to years, leaving atrophic scars. Diagnosis is established by demonstrating amastigote Leishmania bodies by microscopy of Giemsa-stained s...
