ORAL HEALTH PRACTICES DURING THE FIRST 1000 DAYS OF LIFE: LITERATURE REVIEW

Objective: To conduct a bibliographic literature review on current good practices in oral health during the first 1000 days of life, encompassing gestation period and initial two years child. Materials methods: A scientific was conducted February March 2022, utilizing Pubmed Scopus databases. The inclusion criteria encompassed original articles systematic reviews (with or without meta-analysis) published between 2016 2022. Search strategies incorporating English keywords derived from MeSH were employed. Additionally, grey reviewed to define some key concepts. Results: 72 articles, four references (one clinical practice guide three reports) selected. identified themes categorized as follows: hygiene practices, feeding for pregnant women infants, parafunctional habits, dental visits. Based findings, recommendations promoting this crucial include use fluoride toothpaste once teeth erupt, avoidance free sugar consumption, encouragement breastfeeding over bottle-feeding, early visits before birth. Conclusion: Good life significantly impact child’s general health, necessitating preventive measures starting gestation, with focus nutrition. collaborative efforts multidisciplinary healthcare team pregnancy are vital enhancing both outcomes population.
