چکیده

Optimum allocation of water for restoration Iraqi marshes is essential different related authorities. Abo-Ziriq marsh area about 120 km2 situated 40 km east Al-Nassryia city. After comparing the measured annual qualities with standards surface quality evaluation, was in acceptable limit. Hydro balance computation were done each month by using interface among HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS and ArcView GIS software built a number eco-hydro relationships to simulate ecosystem HEC-EFM program estimate adequate requirement constructs hydraulic reference map show inundation area, depth grid velocity distribution, optimal flow result consists three scenarios (24, 30.3 33.6 m3 /s) operation during year. A computer MATLAB 7 developed optimization model determine optimum value entry lower zone. The priority parameter represented weight associated them (penalty factor). used scheme penalty factor examines cases (wet, moderate dry years). results obtained from run that values are not affected significantly changing factors.Hence, any set solutions can be use control structure two inlets zone best fits objective system increase release Abo Jiry inlet minimum deviation most time year

Analyzing ecological restoration strategies for water and soil conservation

The choice of areas for nature conservation involves the attempt to maximize the benefits, whether by carrying out an economic activity or by the provision of Ecosystem Services. Studies are needed to improve the understanding of the effect of the extent and position along the watershed of restored areas on soil and water conservation. This study aimed to understand how different restoration st...

Management of Plant Invaders Within a Marsh: An Organizing Principle for Ecological Restoration?

Controlling plant invaders is often one aspect of ecological restoration. However, the planning and application of control measures can lead to difficult questions regarding project goals and measures of success. We present a case study of a coastal wetland system in South Carolina, USA, where two plant invaders, Phragmites australis and Typha domingensis, were targeted for control. As project ...

Ecosystem service delivery in restoration projects: the effect of ecological succession on the benefits of tidal marsh restoration

Long-term assessment of ecosystem restoration projects is complex because of ecological processes such as succession, particularly in highly dynamic ecosystems such as estuaries. Restoration of intertidal flats and marshes on formerly embanked land, often called managed coastal realignment (MR), became popular in estuarine management. In our study, biophysical and monetary data were collected t...

Determining ecological equivalence in service-to-service scaling of salt marsh restoration.

The amount of ecological restoration required to mitigate or compensate for environmental injury or habitat loss is often based on the goal of achieving ecological equivalence. However, few tools are available for estimating the extent of restoration required to achieve habitat services equivalent to those that were lost. This paper describes habitat equivalency analysis (HEA), a habitat-based ...
