چکیده

Anaerobic co-digestion in wastewater treatment plants is looking increasingly like a straightforward solution to many issues arising from the operation of mono-digestion. Process modelling relevant predict plant behavior and its sensitivity operational parameters, assess feasibility simultaneously feeding digester with different organic wastes. Still, much work has be completed turn anaerobic digestion into reliable practical tool. Indeed, complex biochemical processes described ADM1 model require identification several parameters analytical determinations for substrate characterization. A combined protocol including batch Biochemical Methane Potential tests proposed applied influent characterization simulate pilot-scale where waste sludge expired yogurt was operated. An iterative procedure also developed improve fit kinetic parameter identification. The results are encouraging: significantly reduced Theil’s Inequality Coefficient (TIC), used evaluate goodness alkalinity, total volatile fatty acids, pH, COD, solids, ammoniacal nitrogen. Improvements TIC values, compared first iteration, ranged between 30 58%.

Modeling anaerobic digestion of microalgae using ADM1.

The coupling between a microalgal pond and an anaerobic digester is a promising alternative for sustainable energy production by transforming carbon dioxide into methane using solar energy. In this paper, we demonstrate the ability of the original ADM1 model and a modified version (based on Contois kinetics for the hydrolysis steps) to represent microalgae anaerobic digestion. Simulations were ...

Kinetic modelling of anaerobic digestion with new fractionation using simple model and ADM1

This paper investigates the development of a simple model for the optimization of codigestion not only using the Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) but also using the degradation kinetics. This study concerns an experimental work on the implementation and the operation of continuous reactors fed with different fruits and vegetables wastes at different organic loading rates. A simple model was ...

Combination of batch experiments with continuous reactor data for ADM1 calibration: application to anaerobic digestion of pig slurry.

Modelling anaerobic digestion processes is a key aspect of studying and optimizing digesters and related waste streams. However, for the satisfactory prediction of biogas production and effluent characteristics, some parameters have to be calibrated according to the characteristics of the substrates. This article describes a calibration procedure for the IWA 'Anaerobic Digestion Model no. 1' ap...

Model calibration and validation for OFMSW and sewage sludge co-digestion reactors.

A mathematical model has recently been proposed by the authors to simulate the biochemical processes that prevail in a co-digestion reactor fed with sewage sludge and the organic fraction of municipal solid waste. This model is based on the Anaerobic Digestion Model no. 1 of the International Water Association, which has been extended to include the co-digestion processes, using surface-based k...
