Optimization of Solar Cells with Various Shaped Surficial Nanostructures

In this paper, the effect of different surficial nanostructure designs on absorption efficiency thin film GaAs solar cells is investigated numerically. For this, six photonic nanostructures over a substrate have been applied and optical properties are observed including reflectance, transmittance, absorption. Two optimized structures which higher used fundamental PN junction cell enhancement along with some other electrical open circuit voltage, short current, maximum power point. Current at point ware improved from 1.69 to 1.84 mA, voltage decreased by 0.02 volts. The fill factor around 3% increased 1.24%. This work gives clear idea possible techniques for applying photon management improving thin-film efficiency.
