Optimization of Network-Based Earthquake Early Warning Systems on the Korean Peninsula

Most countries and local governments provide earthquake services in the public domain, they must have high accuracy. If a missed alarm of Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) system causes many casualties, or if industrial is temporarily suspended owing to false alarm, causing economic losses, it inevitably becomes responsibility government. Therefore, most approach technological improvement EEW systems carefully by performing simulations conducting long-term tests ensure their reliability. In this study, we extract characteristics initial P-wave amplitude from an on Korean Peninsula perform trend analysis. We found common optimal threshold Korea Meteorological Administration’s seismic observatory network then evaluated performance optimized algorithm based simulation. The actual events recorded corresponding number matched, missed, events. As result evaluation, module combination had significantly lower occurrence than previous version. expected that proposed optimization should contribute improving stability real-time EEW.
