Optimization of mechanical and antibacterial properties of Ti-3wt%Cu alloy through cold rolling and annealing

In this work, a process of cold rolling with 70% thickness reduction and different annealing temperatures was selected to regulate the microstructure Ti-3wt%Cu alloy. Microstructural evolution, mechanical properties antibacterial alloy under conditions were systematically investigated in terms X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission (TEM), tensile test. The results indicated that could dramatically increase ultimate stress (UTS) from 520 928 MPa, but reduce fracture strain 15.3% 3.8%. With temperature increasing 400 800 °C for 1 h, UTS decreased 744 506 MPa increased from12.7% 24.4%. Moreover, showed excellent rate (> 96.69%). also combination strength ductility following be achieved trade-off by tuning size distribution Ti2Cu phase, which applicability clinical practice. More importantly, maintained good stability conditions. make candidate long-term orthopaedic implant application.
