چکیده
New odour prevention strategies in wastewater treatment facilities need to be investigated find effective and low-cost technologies for the control of malodorous emissions. In this study, potential activated sludge (AS) oxidized nitrogen (N-NOx) recycling as an environmentally-friendly cost-effective strategy minimization nuisance during was evaluated optimized using H2S, acetic acid α-pinene model odorants 2.1 L gas tight bottles. This approach uses by-products from mitigate annoyance. Preliminary abiotic tests showed headspace concentration losses 25% H2S α-pinene, 7% due odorant adsorption 4 h. The experiments carried out at different concentrations AS (0, 10, 25, 50, 100 mg VSS/L) (1.5, 5, 7.5 10 N-NOx/L) revealed removal 7.5–10 N-NOx/L 50–100 VSS/L. Interestingly, NO3− more than NO2− electron acceptor biodegradation regardless N-NOx concentrations. presence dissolved VSS/L, partially metabolized by microorganisms end experiment (from 27 23 ppmv 4.5 h), while experienced a similar gradual decrease tests. Finally, assays ≥5 NO3−/L 25 VSS/L reduction correlated with biological oxidation which suggested supply under sulphur limiting conditions prevent toxicity problems treatment.

Tetracycline resistance genes in activated sludge wastewater treatment plants.
The development and proliferation of antibiotic resistance in pathogenic, commensal, and environmental microorganisms is a major public health concern. The extent to which human activities contribute to the maintenance of environmental reservoirs of antibiotic resistance is poorly understood. In the current study, wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) were investigated as possible sources of tetr...
متن کاملContribution to dynamic simulation of activated sludge wastewater treatment plants
In Portugal, many wastewater treatment plants are presently operated according to predetermined schemes, with few concerns to variations of the activated sludge process and without optimizing its performance to achieve a better effluent quality. Little attention has been given to the activated sludge models as powerful tools for wastewater treatment process understanding, design, control and op...

he cost of sludge disposal can contribute significantly to the cost of product manufacturing. An opportunity exists to eliminate this cost of land disposal of sludge resulting from the zinc phosphate pretreatment process. In addition, the cost of the phosphating process may be reduced by reclaiming this sludge to a zinc-phosphate replenishment solution and other useful products. For those not f...

A new sorbent material, barium sulfate-Direct Blending Yellow D-3RNL hybrid (BSD), was synthesized and characterized by various methods. Both the anionic dyes, Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B and Weak Acid Green GS were hardly adsorbed by the BSD material, while the sorption of Ethyl Violet (EV) and Victoria Blue B were extremely obvious. The sorption of cationic dyes obeyed the Langmuir isotherm m...

In general, wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) consists of several stages before it is released to a receiving water body. There are, preliminary and primary treatment (mechanical treatment), a secondary treatment (biological treatment) and a tertiary treatment (chemical treatment). In this chapter, since the work involve of identification and control design of activated sludge process to improv...
