Optimal Design and Operation of an Off-Grid Hybrid Renewable Energy System in Nigeria’s Rural Residential Area, Using Fuzzy Logic and Optimization Techniques

This study focuses on a technical and economic analysis of designing operating an off-grid hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) in rural community called Olooji, situated Ogun state, Nigeria, as case study. First, size optimization model is developed the basis novel metaheuristic particle swarm (PSO) technique to determine optimal configuration proposed minimization levelized cost electricity, by factoring local meteorological electricity load data details specification main components HRES. Second, fuzzy-logic-controlled management (EMS) for dynamic power control storage HRES, ensuring balance between different multiple sources at each hour operation. The result showed that LCOE implementing HRES would be 0.48 USD/kWh full-battery-capacity scenario 1.17 half-battery-capacity scenario. from this important quick decision-making effective feasibility studies technoeconomic synopsis minigrids communities.
