Opinion: Coordinated development of emission inventories for climate forcers and air pollutants

چکیده

Abstract. Emissions into the atmosphere of fine particulate matter, its precursors, and precursors to tropospheric ozone impact not only human health ecosystems, but also climate by altering Earth's radiative balance. Accurately quantifying these impacts across local global scales historically in future scenarios requires emission inventories that are accurate, transparent, complete, comparable, consistent. In an effort better quantify emissions pollutants, called short-lived forcers (SLCFs), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is developing a new SLCF methodology report. This report would supplement existing IPCC reporting guidance greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, which currently used inventory compilers fulfill national requirements under United Nations Framework Convention (UNFCCC) Enhanced Transparency (ETF) Paris Agreement starting 2024. We review relevant issues, including how air pollutant GHG activities have been structured, as well potential benefits, challenges, recommendations for coordinating efforts. argue that, while there benefits increasing coordination between development efforts, we caution differences appropriate methodologies applications must jointly be considered.

Development of a Mathematical Model for Prediction of Pollutants Emission in D. I. Diesel Engines

Major pollutants emission from Direct-Injection (D.I) diesel engines are predicted by means of a mathematical model. In order to construct such a model, an integral Multi-Zone Combustion Model (MZCM) is formulated, which basically consists of jet mixing and combustion submodels. In MZCM, variation of injection pressure is considered. Also time period of ignition delay is predicted by considerin...

Using Continuous Emission Monitoring Data for Air Quality Modeling Inventories

The Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) data have attracted interest for potentially providing improved point-source emissions data for air quality models. Through the CEM program, NOx and SO2 data have been collected on an hourly basis since 1995, but several features of the data must be addressed before they can be useful for air quality modeling. These features include the large volume of d...
