چکیده

The continuous increase of energy demand with the subsequent huge fossil fuel consumption is provoking dramatic environmental consequences. main challenge this century to develop and promote alternative, more eco-friendly production routes. In framework, Solid Oxide Cells (SOCs) are a quite attractive technology which could satisfy users’ request working in reversible operation. Two operating modes alternated: from “Gas Power”, when SOCs work as cells fed hydrogen-rich mixture provide both electricity heat, “Power Gas”, electrolysers supplied produce hydrogen. If solid oxide an already mature several stationary mobile applications, use electrolyser even still under investigation due their insufficient lifetime. Aiming at providing better understanding new technological approach, study presents detailed description cell operation terms electrochemical behaviour possible degradation, highlighting most commonly used performance indicators. A thermodynamic analysis system efficiency proposed, followed by comparison other available devices order underline specific advantages limitations.

Performance of Reversible Solid Oxide Cells: A review

It was shown about 25 years ago that solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) could also work in the solid oxide electrolyser cell (SOEC) mode. Electrolysis of both water (steam) and CO2 was demonstrated. During the 1990'ies very little electrolysis work was reported in the open literature, whereas an enormous amount of results on the SOFC R&D appeared. Recently, the increasing interest in hydrogen produc...

Investigation the performance of solid oxide fuel cells and the role of nanotechnology in its construction

Nanotechnology is well used in the development and performance improvement of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The high operating temperature of SOFCs (700-900 ° C) has led to serious shortcomings in their overall performance and durability. Hence, the high operating temperature has been reduced to the average temperature range of approximately 44-700 Celsius, which has improved performance and ...

Strategies for Lowering Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Operating Temperature

Lowering the operating temperature of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) to the intermediate range (500–700 oC) has become one of the main SOFC research goals. High operating temperatures put numerous requirements on materials selection and on secondary units, limiting the commercial development of SOFCs. The present review first focuses on the main effects of reducing the operating temperature in ...
