Open Fracture Dislocation of the Talus With Partial Talar Extrusion: A Case Report

We report a case of open talar fracture-dislocation (Gustilo-Anderson type IIIA) associated with posterior tibial artery injury. The limb was aligned and splinted in the emergency department. In operating theater, ligated, neck fracture reduced, it fixed two Kirschner wires (K-wires). After K-wire removal, patient underwent rehabilitation to regain function resumed activities daily living (ADL). At nine months follow-up, has good ankle range motion (ROM) congruent joint but developed avascular necrosis (AVN) talus. This highlights high risk talus AVN after dislocation. Preservation extruded anatomical reduction can maintain alignment, which is essential for arthrodesis cases complications.
