On the mysterious Seychellois endemic spider genus Cenemus (Araneae, Pholcidae)

چکیده

The Pholcidae subfamily Smeringopinae has been revised extensively over the last decade, and most of its currently eight genera can now be placed with some confidence in phylogeny family. A notable exception endemic Seychellois genus Cenemus Saaristo, 2001. Morphologically, is mainly characterized by plesiomorphies, which resulted weakly supported unstable positions previous cladistic analyses. Molecular data have not previously available. Here we revise morphology type species culiculus (Simon, 1898), including first SEM photos, present molecular for genus. Morphology molecules continue to give conflicting results regarding sister taxon , but our analyses strongly support a position within northern group (Northern Africa Mediterranean India) rather than southern (Subsahara Africa). This supports idea that an ancient taxon, dating back breakup Gondwana, between separation Mascarene platform from Madagascar (~85 mya) India (~60 mya). In addition, recently established Maghreba Huber, 2022, consistently resolved as Crossopriza Simon, 1893; evidence polyphyly Holocnemus 1873, supporting morphological evidence; annotated list Seychelles, are supposedly recent human introductions.

Revision and cladistic analysis of the Guineo-Congolian spider genus Smeringopina Kraus (Araneae, Pholcidae).

The genus Smeringopina Kraus, 1957 is revised, with redescriptions of the nine previously known species and descriptions of 35 new species. Smeringopina is largely restricted to the tropical forests of West and Central Africa. It includes both large species that build their domed sheet-webs in protected spaces near the ground, and small (probably derived) litter-dwelling species. With leg spans...

The goblin spider genus Xyphinus Simon 1893 presents several peculiar characters, such as spines and spikes on carapace and abdomen in different sizes and shapes, strongly modified male palps with distinct apophyses and female epigastric modifications with sclerotized scapi, which can be short or long or even contorted. The genus is restricted to the Old World tropics, except for one species co...

On three endemic species of the linyphiid spider genus Canariphantes Wunderlich, 1992 (Araneae, Linyphiidae) from the Azores archipelago.

We describe Canariphantes junipericola n. sp. and C. relictus n. sp., new single-island endemic linyphiid spiders from the islands of Flores and Santa Maria (Azorean archipelago, Macaronesia), respectively. The female of the first species was incorrectly assigned to Canariphantes acoreensis (Wunderlich, 1992), a species occurring in four islands in the Central Group of Azores (Faial, Pico, São ...
