On the Greek reflexes of the Proto-Indo-European labiovelars

چکیده
The present article investigates the problem of reflexes Proto-Indo-European labiovelars in Ancient Greek. There have been numerous discussions issue, both concerning origin such a set changes and also about precise formulation its outcomes possible analogical changes. data is drawn from variety Greek dialects which reflect different prehistoric labiovelars. It discussed at length whether hypothesis proposed 1881 that outcome voiced labiovelar */gw/ was /d/ before front vowels (both /i/ /e/ ) supported by attested data. concluded view would require too many and, therefore, it better to assume respectively. Furthermore, pointed out overall picture development requires new thorough investigation complete material presented particular dialects.
