چکیده
Abstract This paper studies the relativistic angular momentum for generalized electromagnetic field, described by r -vectors in ( k , n ) space-time dimensions, with exterior-algebraic methods. First, angular-momentum tensor is derived from invariance of Lagrangian to rotations (Lorentz transformations), avoiding explicit need canonical Noether’s theorem. The derivation proves conservation law generic values and . Second, an integral expression flux across a $$(k+n-1)$$ (k+n-1) -dimensional surface constant $$\ell $$ xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML">ℓ -th coordinate provided terms normal modes field; this analysis natural generalization standard electromagnetism, i. e. three-dimensional space at time. Third, brief discussion on orbital spin including their complex-valued circular polarizations,

Orbital and Spin Angular Momentum of Electromagnetic Fields
1 Problem Poynting [1] identified the flux of energy in the electromagnetic fields {E, B} (in a medium with relative permittivity = 1 and relative permeability μ = 1) with the vector S = c 4π E × B, (1) in Gaussian units, where c is the speed of light in vacuum. Abraham [2] recognized the additional role of the Poynting vector as being proportional to the density of linear momentum stored in th...
متن کاملElectron interaction with the spin angular momentum of the electromagnetic field
We give a simple derivation and expansion of a recently proposed new relativistic interaction between the electron and the spin angular momentum of the electromagnetic field in quantum electrodynamics (QED). Our derivation is based on the work of Møller, who pointed out that, in special relativity, a particle with spin must always have a finite extension. After generalizing Møller’s classical r...
متن کاملTesting angular momentum effects on the space time
The paper contains a proposed experiment for testing the angular momentum effect on the propagation of light around a rotating mass. The idea is to use a rotating spherical laboratory-scale shell, around which two mutually orthogonal light guides are wound acting as the arms of an interferometer. Numerical estimates show that time of flight differences between the equatorial and polar guides co...
متن کاملElectromagnetic field angular momentum in condensed matter systems
Various electromagnetic systems can carry an angular momentum in their E and B fields. The electromagnetic field angular momentum (EMAM) of these systems can combine with the spin angular momentum to give composite fermions or composite bosons. In this paper we examine the possiblity that an EMAM could provide an explanation of the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) which is complimentary to...
متن کاملSpin and angular momentum in the nucleon
Using the covariant spectator theory (CST), we present the results of a valence quark-diquark model calculation of the nucleon structure function f(x) measured in unpolarized deep inelastic scattering (DIS), and the structure functions g1(x) and g2(x) measured in DIS using polarized beams and targets. Parameters of the wave functions are adjusted to fit all the data. The fit fixes both the shap...
