On reductions – examining a British-Bourdieusian sociology of education

In this article I explore a disposition towards critique of ‘reductionism’ and ‘determinism’ that seems to me be very much prevalent within British sociology. take qualitative educational sociology uses Bourdieusian concepts as one body research where is expressed with particular fervour. A close examination work reveals its tacit acceptance the limits specific, mostly statistical, classifications. It also distorted approach reflexivity view rival approaches critiques. This points specific systematic that, through abundant warnings ‘determinism’, itself reduces development theory epistemology, thereby endangering potential rupture epistemological break advocated by Bourdieu. prompts us pose fresh questions about state practice reflexivity.
