On near-uniform URL sampling
We consider the problem of sampling URLs uniformly at random from the Web. A tool for sampling URLs uniformly can be used to estimate various properties of Web pages, such as the fraction of pages in various Internet domains or written in various languages. Moreover, uniform URL sampling can be used to determine the sizes of various search engines relative to the entire Web. In this paper, we c...
متن کاملNear-Uniform Sampling of Combinatorial Spaces Using XOR Constraints
We propose a new technique for sampling the solutions of combinatorial problems in a near-uniform manner. We focus on problems specified as a Boolean formula, i.e., on SAT instances. Sampling for SAT problems has been shown to have interesting connections with probabilistic reasoning, making practical sampling algorithms for SAT highly desirable. The best current approaches are based on Markov ...
متن کاملOn uniform sampling of cliques
The problem that we are addressing in this thesis is the problem of sampling uniformly the cliques of a target size k of any given graph. As a natural approach for solving this problem, we used the already available state-ofthe-art heuristic MAX-CLIQUE solvers. The heuristic MAX-CLIQUE algorithms, which we used for this task, have k-CLIQUE solvers as their subroutines. This thesis therefore exa...
متن کاملOn random sampling in uniform hypergraphs
A k-graph G(k) on vertex set [n] = {1, . . . , n} is said to be (ρ, ζ)-uniform if every S ⊆ [n] of size s = |S| > ζn spans (ρ ± ζ) (s k ) edges. A ‘grabbing lemma’ of Mubayi and Rödl shows that this property is typically inherited locally: if G(k) is (ρ, ζ)-uniform, then all but exp{−s1/k/20} (n s ) sets S ∈ ([n] s ) span (ρ, ζ′)-uniform subhypergraphs G(k)[S], where ζ′ → 0 as ζ → 0, s ≥ s0(ζ′)...
متن کاملNon-uniform Spatial Sampling
We investigate in this paper the non-uniform sampling of EEG dipolar potentials and its impact on source analysis. We suppose some a priori knowledge on the approximate location of the dipole. We show that, in a noise-free situation, the electrode spacing needs to be around 3cm in the region of the dipole only, whereas it can drop to 8cm in remote regions.
