On Measurement Scales: Neither Ordinal Nor Interval?

چکیده
There is a received view on measurement scales. It includes both classification of scales (nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio) set prescriptions regarding inferences. This article casts doubt the adequacy this view. To do this, I propose an epistemic characterization ordinal/interval distinction, that is, one in terms researchers’ beliefs. novel reveals distinction as too coarse grained thus restrictive framework for research.
