چکیده
This study investigates lexical production in Spanish as L1 and L2 an experimental context. Based on a series of availability tasks, words produced by native non-native speakers are contrasted relation to test modality, oral or written, response time. The is characterized being significantly higher more accurate, while responses reflect lower competence, the influence divergent acquisition patterns. Although previous studies had not found significant differences between number orally writing, we find that such exist, but they conditioned time, which affects differently L2, although their evolution describes similar trajectory both cases. methodological factor would also cause neutralization qualitative written groups participants.

Increasing context: L2 production of English intonation by L1 Mandarin and L1 Spanish speakers
One of the uncontested linguistic uses of intonation is the marking of sentence-type. Intonation, however, can be a redundant cue to sentence type, as in English statements or absolute yes-no questions, or the only cue, as in declarative questions. We explore the realization of sentence prosody by advanced Spanish and Mandarin learners of English. Since the target-like realization of sentence p...
متن کاملOn the role of L1 speech production in L2 perception: evidence from Spanish learners of French
Spanish (L2) speakers have difficulty in perceiving the French vowel height contrast /e/-/ /. L2 perception models attribute this perceptual difficulty to native (L1) phonology. For example, the Spanish /e/ vowel, which is perceptually similar to both French vowels, is assumed to influence their perception through an assimilation process. This pattern of assimilation depends upon the degree of ...
متن کاملEffects of L2 use on the production of L1 vowels in early Spanish-Catalan bilinguals
A considerable amount of research on early bilingualism investigating the plasticity of the perceptual system in L2 learning has focused on the Catalan mid vowels /e/ and /ε/ [1,2,3]. This research has shown that even early Spanish-Catalan bilinguals who are highly proficient in Catalan exhibit an asymmetric behaviour in lexical decision tasks in which Catalan-dominant bilinguals obtain higher ...
متن کاملThe Interaction between Lexical-Semantics and Morphosyntax: A Study on the Development of Verbal Forms in L1 and L2 Spanish
It is well known that L2 learners differ from L1 learners in the acquisition of the target language. One of the areas of the grammar in which L2 learners exhibit variability is in the production of verbal morphology, in particular, tense and agreement markings are often found to be optional in L2 data. The contrast in attainment between L1 and L2 has led some researchers to propose that the var...
متن کاملLexical Bundles in L1 and L2 Academic Writing
Yu-Hua Chen and Paul Baker Lancaster University This paper adopts an automated frequency-driven approach to identify frequently-used word combinations (i.e., lexical bundles) in academic writing. Lexical bundles retrieved from one corpus of published academic texts and two corpora of student academic writing (one L1, the other L2), were investigated both quantitatively and qualitatively. Publis...
