ON EQUATIONAL COMPLETENESS THEOREMS

چکیده
Abstract A logic is said to admit an equational completeness theorem when it can be interpreted into the consequence relative some class of algebras. We characterize logics admitting that are either locally tabular or have tautology. In particular, shown a protoalgebraic admits precisely has two distinct logically equivalent formulas. While problem determining whether decidable both for presented by finite set matrices and Hilbert calculus, becomes undecidable arbitrary calculi.

Completeness of Category-Based Equational Deduction
Equational deduction is generalised within a category-based abstract model theory framework, and proved complete under a hypothesis of quantiier projectivity, using a semantic treatment that regards quantiiers as models rather than variables, and regards valuations as model morphisms rather than functions. Applications include many and order sorted conditional] equational logics, Horn clause lo...
متن کاملOn the Soundness and Completeness of Equational Predicate Logics
We present two different formalizations of Equational Predicate Logic, that is, first order logic that uses Leibniz’s substitution of “equals for equals” as a primary rule of inference. We prove that both versions are sound and complete. A by-product of this study is an alternative proof to that contained in [GS3], that the “full” Leibniz rule is strictly stronger than the “no-capture” Leibniz ...
متن کاملExtension Theorems without Dedekind Completeness
In the operator version of the Hahn-Banach-Kantorovich theorem, the range space Y is assumed to be Dedekind complete. Y. A. Abramovich and A. W. Wickstead improved this by assuming only the Cantor property on Y . Along the same line of reasoning, we obtained in this paper several new results of this type. We also see that assuming Cantor property on the domain spaces instead gives good results,...
متن کاملGödel’s Completeness and Incompleteness Theorems
This paper will discuss the completeness and incompleteness theorems of Kurt Gödel. These theorems have a profound impact on the philosophical perception of mathematics and call into question the readily apparent strength of the system itself. This paper will discuss the theorems themselves, their philosophical impact on the study of mathematics and some of the logical background necessary to u...
متن کاملCompleteness Theorems for Syllogistic Fragments
Traditional syllogisms involve sentences of the following simple forms: All X are Y , Some X are Y , No X are Y ; similar sentences with proper names as subjects, and identities between names. These sentences come with the natural semantics using subsets of a given universe, and so it is natural to ask about complete proof systems. Logical systems are important in this area due to the prominenc...
