High - Speed 2 2 Switch for Multiwavelength Silicon - Photonic Networks – On - Chip
We report the fabrication and experimental verification of a multiwavelength high-speed 2 2 silicon photonic switch for ultrahigh-bandwidth message routing in optical on-chip networks. The structure employs only two microring resonators in order to implement the bar and cross states of the switch. These states are toggled using an optical pump at 1.5m wavelengths inplane with the waveguide devi...
متن کاملSilicon 1 × 2 Mode- and Polarization-selective Switch
We experimentally demonstrate an on-chip silicon 1×2 switch that routes 8 data channels on 4 modes and 2 polarizations. The insertion losses are < 8dB, and the crosstalk values are below -15dB. The 8 channels are tested with a 72-Gb/s signal. OCIS codes: (230.3120) Integrated Optics; (130.4815) Optical switching devices.
متن کاملSilicon Photonic-wire Waveguide Devices
Silicon photonic-wire waveguide is one of the most promising platforms in constructing compact optical devices, since the waveguide can be bent with a radius of less then several microns. Recently, we have demonstrated various optical devices based on silicon photonic-wire waveguides, which include a directional coupler, a tunable optical add-drop multiplexer, and some ultra-compact 1 x N optic...
متن کاملOn-chip optical mode conversion based on dynamic grating in photonic-phononic hybrid waveguide
We present a scheme for reversible and tunable on-chip optical mode conversion based on dynamic grating in a hybrid photonic-phononic waveguide. The dynamic grating is built up through the acousto-optic effect and the theoretical model of the optical mode conversion is developed by considering the geometrical deformation and refractive index change. Three kinds of mode conversions are able to b...
متن کاملPhotonic Information Processing on a Silicon Chip
We fabricate and demonstrate devices in silicon that leads towards the goal of implementing optical information processing on a silicon chip. To this effect, we demonstrate all-optical multi-level logic using a system of symmetric ring resonators in parallel. The device can form the basis of an on-chip optical digital to analog converter (ODAC). We also demonstrate ultra low cross talk by using...
