On as-built microstructure and necessity of solution treatment in additively manufactured Inconel 939

چکیده
Increased adoption of additively manufactured superalloys has led to the consideration revised heat treatment approaches for these materials. The rapid cooling during additive manufacturing processes been seen suppress gamma prime (γ′) precipitation, which raised possibilities omitting high-temperature solution step that usually precedes ageing alloys. In this work, as-built microstructure a high fraction superalloy Inconel 939 is presented, where absence any γ′ precipitation notable. However, transmission electron microscopy shows presence nano-sized Eta (η) phase. It shown omission leads growth deleterious η phase upon ageing, results in embrittlement tensile loading. concluded at least particular alloy plays critical role establishment required and hence cannot be omitted from treatment.

Investigation of microstructure in additive manufactured Inconel 625 by spatially resolved neutron transmission spectroscopy
Non-destructive testing techniques based on neutron imaging and diffraction can provide information on the internal structure of relatively thick metal samples (up to several cm), which are opaque to other conventional non-destructive methods. Spatially resolved neutron transmission spectroscopy is an extension of traditional neutron radiography, where multiple images are acquired simultaneousl...
متن کاملAdditively Manufactured Porous Biomaterials and Implants
Recent advances in additive manufacturing (AM) techniques (otherwise known as 3D printing) have enabled fabrication of a new class of porous biomaterials (Figure 1) with arbitrarily complex and precisely controlled topologies that e.g. resemble the geometry and micro-architecture of (trabecular) bone. Since the geometry of scaffolds and biomaterials is an important factor in bone tissue regener...

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...
