Olivine-rich veins in high-pressure serpentinites: A far-field paleo-stress snapshot during subduction

چکیده
Field observations within the Atg-serpentinite domain of subducted ultramafic massif from Cerro del Almirez (SE Spain) reveal existence two generations abundant olivine-rich veins formed as open, mixed mode and shear fractures during prograde metamorphism. Type I were synchronous with development serpentinite main foliation (S 1 ) shearing, whereas II post-date S surfaces. These structural relationships indicate that, while Atg-serpentinites underwent ductile plastic deformation at temperatures 450°-600 °C pressures 0.7–1.7 GPa, they also experienced punctuated brittle behaviour events. Low-temperature olivine rheology at high pressure
San-Carlos olivine rheology was investigated at pressure (P) up to 9 GPa and temperature (T) lower than 890 ◦C. Six powder specimens were cold compressed and sintered into dense and compact materials, then deformed during relaxation experiments carried out at constant pressure and temperature in DIA-type cubic-anvil apparatus. Sample elastic strain was monitored during relaxation by in situ X-r...

The ultramafic rocks from the Takht-e-Soleyman metamorphic complex, in Precambrian age, are classified as serpentinized metaperidotites and serpentinites, based on degree of serpentinization. Serpentine forms more than 90 volume% of the serpentinites. On the basis of serpentine polymorphs, textural relations and micro-structure features, variety of serpentinites are determined as massive serpen...

there is no doubt that human being needs to become integrated with industry and industry needs to be progressed, daily. on the other hand, serious events in industrial units specially in oil industries has been shown that such damages and events are industry related ones. the consequence of such events and damages which resulted in chemical and poisoned explosions and loss of life and property ...
A Metamorphosed Olivine-rich Aggregate in the Cv3 Carbonaceous Chondrite
A metamorphosed olivine-rich aggregate was found in the least metamorphosed CV3 Y-86009. Although such aggregates were observed in CV3 Mokoia and Vigarano, and CO (CM) Acfer 094 [1-3], their precursors and formation mechanism have not been fully understood. Here, we report mineralogical observations of an olivine-rich aggregate in the Y-86009. The olivine-rich aggregate is embedded in matrix. I...

A new dataset for the high-pressure to ultrahigh-pressure Western Gneiss Region allows the definition of distinct structural and petrological domains.Much of the study area is an E-dippinghomoclinewith E-plunging lineations that exposes progressively deeper, more strongly deformed, more eclogite-rich structural levels westward. Although eclogites crop out across the WGR, Scandian deformation is...
